Grampound were very comfortable throughout this match and with the home side playing a very high line without pressure on the ball it was only a matter of time before Grampound cashed in. Numerous times in the first half, simple passing opened up the Clays defence and numerous chances were missed before Grampound took the lead. The floodgates were really opened then and chances were created almost at will, Grampound opening up a 4-0 lead at the break.

Inevitably, Grampound took their foot off the gas after the break and the home side came more into the game.  A degree of casualness descended on Grampound although they still managed to put another 3 goals away to give the side an impressive scoreline that, in truth, should have been very much higher.
