Bodmin Dragon 9-1 Grampound

7 October 2023

St Piran League Division 3 East

Bodmin  are a very sound team and when they scored very early on it was possible that the team would concede more early goals but a bit of a makeshift Grampound team fought hard and managed to give an excellent account of themselves for the next 35 minutes, with Dan Smith to the fore on his return to the club.  A couple of soft goals, including a dubious penalty, just before the break though left Grampound facing a difficult second half.
The visitors received a boost just after halftime, however, when veteran Jules Woodman headed a deep corner back into the danger area and Joe Bray hammered an unstoppable volley from near the penalty spot into the corner of the net for his first goal for Grampound.  From then on, though, Grampound started to run out of legs and fit players with a couple carrying injuries.  More goals went in, several of them pretty soft, and Jules Woodman hit  a penalty powerfully but unfortunately over the bar.
