Grampound 2-10 Lanreath

Despite the scoreline, Grampound put in a creditable performance against league leaders Lanreath and with a litlle more luck and concentration, the scoreline would not have been quite so disappointing. Lanreath took an early lead but Grampound pulled that goal back soon after when Joe Bray's lob easoly beat the visiting goalkeeper. The score stayed at 1-1 for some time before 3 away goals in 10 minutes won the game for the visitors. Grampound's recurring problem of defending poorly for a spell was evident here.The second half started with another Lanreath goal within a couple of minutes to compound the problems but Grampound replied well when John Nel played an excellent ball into the run of Wilf Donnelly and the midfielder rounded defenders and slotted home neatly for his first goal for the club. Another spell of poor defending in the final 15 minutes allowed the visitors to score 5 unanswered goals which gave a distorted picture of the match where Grampound had actually played well for considerable periods.
