Royal Par 2-6 Grampound Veterans

9th October 2022

Cornwall Veterans League

Grampound dominated much of the first half and went into the lead fairly early on with an overhead kick from Sam Johnson.  In spite of numerous chances, one goal was all that came from some excellent football and Grampound were disappointed with that but pleased with the quality of their play.

The second half was a different story.  The football was more direct but a little less pleasing on the eye and the goals flowed.  Simon Spurr finished neatly when put through by Adam Trudgian, Alex Makepeace scored with a header and then drove a low shot into the bottom corner for a brace, Johnson scored his second with a curling shot into the top corner and Jules Woodman planted a free kick into the net to complete the scoring.  With a host of substitutions disrupting the team, the home side pulled back a couple of goals in the last 10 minutes.
