Grampound 1-0 North Hill

29th October 2022

Duchy League

Grampound would never claim this was one of the team's better performances as too many things did not go in the way that was wanted.  North Hill battled hard and were much improved compared to how they played against us earlier in the season but Grampound dominated possession and had spells when the passing was crisp but too often possession was conceded without pressure and  a clearer scoreline should have resulted.  Grampound, though, were never in real danger of losing with Dan Riley rarely troubled apart fom having to get the ball upfield and one catch he had to take from a cross.  North Hill did, however, have one chance in the opening minutes when they hit the bar but other than that it was not a difficult game for the hosts.  The goal came from the second of a pair of corners  just before the 10 minute mark.  The ball was played short to Kev Rowden from the corner and his cross was neatly headed home by Will Barnecutt.

The second half saw Grampound dominating the game but unable to extend their lead.  Too many touches was often the problem and Grampound's best chance came when Dean Dunn's long free kick was met by Sam Johnson's head and the forceful low header was brilliantly saved by the feet of the visiting keeper.  Kyle Hughes came on as a substitute and gave a strong and energetic performance up front, giving his marker a torrid time and he was unlucky to not score.
