Grampound 9-0 Delabole & Tintagel Utd

8th October 2022

Duchy League

Grampound took the lead after just 4 minutes when a late tackle was adjudged to be a foul and Dean Dunn stepped up to stroke the ball confidently into the corner of the net.  The visitors, seemingly struggling for players, battled hard and the second goal was a good goal when Sam Blount was played in and his deft toch saw the ball roll past the otstretched arm of the keeper and roll over the goal line. Sam Johnson scored another impressive goal to make the score 3-0 and then hit the goal of the half following an exceptional team move, with intricate passing leading to Sam Johnson smashing the ball home from 15 yardsfor his second.  The score at half time was 4-0, although the visitors had probably shared possession equally with Grampound.

The second half was a different story with Grampound dominating possession and making the game very difficult for the visitors to make much progress.   Another excellent spell of passing ended with Kev Rowden having a tap in for his first goal for Grampound and then Karl Orchard also scored his first for Grampound with an excellent shot from distance.  Rowden scored the goal of the match when the ball broke to him 30 yards out and his first time drive hit the top corner of the net before the keeper moved. Dean Dingle, playing his first game for the club scored the eighth goal when he was released on the half way line , out sprinted the defenders, rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home.  Lewis Foskett scored the final goal to round off a handsome win for Grampound but the visitors deserve credit for not giving up at any time and battling hard throughout.
