Casle Loyale 0-4 Grampound

1st October 2022

Duchy League

For the first time in a lomg time, Grampound'd starting eleven was exactly as in the match before.  Grampound put in another dominant performance in this away match and again denied the home opponents a real strike on goal during the 90 minutes, the goals against column showing Grampound having zero goals against after 4 league games.

The team reallly did dominate Castle Loyale and went ahead with a superb finish from Dylan Fox on 8 minutes.  Fox extended the lead with a second shortly after and added a third on the half hour to give himself a first half kat-trick.  Sam Johnson struck the post from long rangewith a rising shot  before scoring from close range at a corner for his first Grampound goal.  Danny Austin should have scored seconds before the break but he blazed over and Grampound had to settle for a 4-0 half time lead.

Grampound continued to dominate possession but could not find the right finish in the second half, their best effort coming from Sam Johnson again as he hit a thunderous shot that came back off the post for the second time in the game for the striker.  Numerous other chances were not taken and it is to be hoped that final league placings will not depend on goal difference.  Grampound's play became a little more scrappy as tiredness intruded but to win comfortably again and with a clean sheet too was very satisfying.
