Indian Queens 0-4 Grampound

26th November 2022

Duchy League

Grampound powered on to another reasonably comfortable win and clean sheet with a burst of first half goals. The tone was set on 9 minutes when Dylan Fox was upended in the penalty area.  Dean Dunn hit the penalty high over the bar, the first spotkick anyone can remember him missing.  The team started to play better considering the awful conditions of wind and rain and the opener came on 25 minutes when Fox's determination and pace took him past the last defender and he slotted home neatly wide of the goalkeeper.  Sam Jonson then scored a brace of goals, the first with a left foot shot from 20 yards inside the near post and soon after a 30 yard shot over the keeper and into the top corner.  Connor Bussell completed the scoring with a close radge sidefoot strike for his first ever goal in men's football.
The second half was a bit of a non-event as conditions deteriorated and Grampound managed to miss a host of chances before the hosts came into the game a little and eventually forced keeper Dan Riley into a save from a dipping shot and a catch from a corner.   Karl Orchard and Joe Dunn both had to leave the pitch early after pulling up with injuries during the game but  but it was another win, 3 more points and no goals against as Grampound went 12 games unbeaten, scoring 41 goals and conceding only 3 since the start of the season's competitive matches.
