Grampound 4-1 Indian Queens

7th January 2023

Duchy League

Grampound looked to have picked up where they left off nearly a month before as they passes and moved effectively.  Half chances were created but a ball in from Sam Blount eventually found Dylan Fox who finished easily to put the team a goal ahead early on.  As time went on, the visitors came back into the game but Grampound managed to extend their lead before the break when a Blount corner was finished, if a little scrappily, by Jules Woodman from close in.  Seconds before half-time Queens pulled a goal back when an offside trap did not work as well as it might.
The second period saw Queens put some pressure without creating a real chance with the Grampound back four looking very solid and well-organised in spite of some personnel changes during the game.  A single goal lead always is a concern though and Grampound were pleased to go 3-1 ahead when Dean Dunn picked up a ball 25 yards out following a corner and his cshot into the top corner gave the visiting goalkeeper Adie Martin, a former Grampound player, no chance.  Minutes before the end Grampound grabbed a fourth when sub Will Barnecutt was put through and his finish was enough to give Grampound a commanding 4-1 win.
