Grampound 4-0 Castle Loyale

3rd December 2022

Duchy League

Grampound dominated the first half of his game even though the team was not at its most fluent.  A string of presentable chances were created but the ball did not find the net.  Grampound might have found themselves 3 goals or more ahead at the break but were confident that goals would come. The visitors sat deep often with everyone behind the ball and offered little threat around Grampound's penalty area.
The second half continued in the same way but Grampound began moving the ball quicker and showed much more urgency.  The breakthrough came when Danny Austin latched on to a loose ball around the six yard box and smashed it home within 5 minutes of the half beginning.  Austin turned provider soon after when his delicate through ball found the run of Dylan Fox across the penalty area and Fox finished the move with a very tidy finish into the corner of the net.  Grampound were well on top and more goals looked likely.  A few chances were missed but Castle Loyale did not manage to test Dan Riley in Grampound's goal in any way.   A third goal was scored by Zak Barker when he rose highest at the far post to head a corner into the roof of the net.  The final goal was the result of Fox being tripped in the Castle penalty area, the ensuing penalty being hit hard and low into the corner by Dean Dunn, back on penalty duties after his miss in the previous game.
