Grampound 3-0 Lostwithiel XI

27th August 2022

Friendly

Grampound were surprised to find that their first league game was awarded to them three days before the due date of fixture whenopponents  Godolphin were unable to field an eligible team.  The 3 points were gratefully accepted and a friendly was hastily arrange against a Lostwithiel team comprising both first team (Duchy Premier) and reserve team (Duchy 2) players.  This game was Grampound's most comfortable of all the pre-season gamea played.  The hosts had several chances to take the lead before a pinpoint cross from Karl Orchard wide on the right was perfect for  the head of Ryan Morcom who nodded the opener into the roof of the net .  Grampound began to show greater confidence and passed the ball neatly for a period before a clearance arrived at the feet of Sam Blount who finished from the centre circle with a smart shot over the visiting keeper's head.
Grampound began to show a little sloppiness at times during the second half but never really looked like being caught in this game.  Numerous Grampound chances came and went before Morcom grabbed his second with a tidy low finish.  The winning margin should have been greater but Grampound's performance was pleasing and well-deserved.
