Grampound 0-3 Bude Town

3rd October 2020

Duchy League Division 2

Grampound looked a little hesitant in the opening exchanges but managed to keep the league leaders at arms length and to create a few half chances.  The best opportunity of the half fell to Dean Dunn when he rose well to head a long free kick from Sam Blount just over the bar.  The first half ended scoreless with Grampound just shading possession and looking to be just about on top.

The second half was a different story as Grampound folded uncharacteristically following a complete fluke of a goal that put the visitors ahead and the lead was extended soon after following a series of errors and missed tackles.  Grampound should have pulled one back in a goalmouth scramble but the goalkeeper gathered and punted the ball long down the field.  Grampound defenders now had to work hard but a  penalty was awarded against Mark Wherry and this was duly converted  to give the visitors an unassailable lead.

This was a very disappointing second half performance but some consolation was gained by the impressive debuts of new signings Luke Oliver and Shaun Pickering.
