Grampound 1-2 St Erme

17th April 2020

Friendly

A much improved performance from Grampound, albeit a bit under strength.  The visitors looked much the more dangerous side in the first half and went a goal up early on.  Grampound looked to have equalised soon after but the ball was cleared with the attacking team claiming that the clearance came from well behind the goal line.  The goal was not awarded.  The second half saw Grampound take the game to their opposition a bit more and St Erme did well at times to keep their goal intact.  With half an hour left Pete Thomas ran on to a ball down the right channel and smashed an unstoppable drive into the far top corner for a deserved equaliser and it looked like an  honourable draw would be the result with both sides tiring.  Jules Woodman had had to play in goal for the last hour following an injury to regular Grampound keeper Dan Riley.  He had been completely untroubled until the  the very last kick of the game when a speculative shot found the top corner to give St Erme the honours on the day.
