Grampound again started slowly and their midfield were being regularly over-run until manager Mike Bawden adjusted the shape of the team and from then on, apart from the last 3 minutes, they looked the more likely team to win. At a corner the Bude crossbar was twice hit but the ball would not go in. On 25 minutes, however, some slick passing gave Mike Cruse a simple chance and he made no mistake when he slipped the ball past the visiting keeper. Grampound continued to make chances and mostly kept the visitors comfortably at arms length, but could not find the net. It was inevitable that eventually Bude would get a good chance but when they did with 3 minutes to go it was a poor shot that somehow managed to squirm through the goalkeeper and into the net for the equaliser. In the dying seconds, with penalties looming, a simple Grampound pass was misplaced, Bude flooded forwards and a good cross was gathered and hit home for an unlikely winner.
