Things did not start well with the hme side scoring after about 10 minutes after an error in the Grampound defence after some tidy Grampound play in the opening minutes.  Grampound worked their way back and some neat passing resulted in new signing Greg Madden calmly passing the ball into the net for a debut goal.  The turning point came when the same player was sin-binned for a very innocuous remark and Clays scored twice in the 10 minutes that Grampound were a man down.

The second half saw Grampound pushing hard to get back into the game and a good move ended with a hard low cross that was forced over the line by Ben Taylor for his first goal for the club.  Grampound were well on top and with plenty of time left there were high hopes of getting the equaliser but Clays defended strongly and held out, helped by a breakaway goal which seemed to deflate Grampound's momentum in the last 10 minutes.
