Grampound 2-1 North Hill

9th October 2021

Duchy League Division 2

Grampound fielded a team consisting of some experienced players together with some youngsters just starting out in men's football.  The start of the game didn't go exactly to plan, with Grampound missing two excellent chances in the first few minutes and Noth Hill going down the other end and taking the lead with just five minutes gone after a couple of early mix-ups in the home defence.  Grampound equalised just minutes later when some neat passing gave Dylan Fox the chance to rifle home from 15 yards for his second goal in only his second appearance of the season because of personal circumstances.  Grampound always looked the more likely to score again but half time arrived with the  home team a little frustrated at not scoring the goals they felt they deserved.
The second half started explosively with sub Joran Rogers, on the pitch for only a couple of minutes,  skinning two defenders on the wide left, cutting in and blasting in a second Grampound goal in the match and his first for the club.  Grampound might have scored more in the second half to put the game safe but didn't and had, at times, to defend solidly to preserve their lead.  The team eventually held out without too many alarms to record a pleasing win, especially for the young players making their home debut,
