Grampound began well but an unfortunate accidental injury to defender Dean Dunn disturbed the defence and two bizarre goals were scored at around the 30 minute mark to give the visitors a comfortable lead and enhanced confidence. Grampound pressed hard but could not find a goal against a resolute visiting defence. St Mawgan did, however, extend their lead soon after the break when their tricky striker rounded the Grampound defence and slotted hme to give them a 3-0 lead. Grampound pulled one back when a flighted fee kick from Martin Lloyd found Dylan Fox in the panalty area and his excellent finish into the top corner from 15 yards pulled a goal back for Grampound. Hopes of a home revival were dashed when a speculative strike by a visiting player found its way into the net and Grampound were left to rue what might have been.
