St Dominick 5-0 Grampound

(Duchy League Division 1)

Grampound were let down by the non appearance of their new goalkeeper and with injuries and other commitments it meant that the team went to high flying St Dominick with just 10.

Grampound started well though and at half time the home side had just a single goal from a shot which Webb might have done better with. He made amends with a series of superb saves to keep the side in the game and Grampound might even have sneaked a goal or too themselves on another day. The team battled well though and at the break they were well in the game.

In the second period, St Dominick dominated play more as tiredness began to creep into Grampound legs although spirit and effort did not drop. Grampound were also a little unlucky with the second half goals. A clear handball was missed by the referee and the player concerned pushed into the Grampound penalty area where he was bundled over and was awarded a penalty which was duly converted. Another goal was awarded in spite of a clear offside as the referee ignored the flagging linesman.  The Grampound players on the day were all fully committed and all deserve congratulations for a truly gritty performance.
