Gunnislake 2-1 Grampound

(Duchy League Division 1)

Grampound again started slowly and were 2 goals down inside 15 minutes. The first was a poor defender's touch on the skiddy surface, allowing the home forward an easy run in. The second resulted from the ball being given away in our own half and then being shunted forward, defenders were slow to block a cross and the ball was in the net before cover could be produced. Grampound rallied, however, and the hosts' good start dissipated and few chances were made at either end, Grampound's makeshift goalkeeper being largely untroubled. As the half wore on, Grampound looked more dangerous and eventually a cross from Michael, probably heading out of play, was headed into the danger area by Bawden and Adam Hayne banged the ball home from close range.

Now back in the game, Grampound pressed forward and controlled much of the second half although were unable to create more than half chances. A Hayne challenge looked to have given Gunni a penalty but play was waved on and Grampound threw players forward in search of an equaliser. It was not to be, however, but overall, Grampound deserved at least a point.
