Sunday 25 September 2011 Grampound Vets. 3-2 Packhorse Inn(Cornwall Veterans League) The Vets opened the scoring in their first game of the season after just 3 minutes when Chis Higgins rose highest to head home from 8 yards. Grampound then proceeded to make a string of chances but eventually sat back a little and allowed the visitors to come back into the game. On 20 minutes, a free kick from wide on their left was floated in, deceiving Tony Ford and ended up as the equalising goal. two minutes later an excellent snapshot from the edge of the penalty box gave Ford no chance and suddenly from coasting the hme side was a goal down. Glyn Ford was frequently getting behind the visiting defence but his crosses were squandered until an excellent move released him once more. His cross was met by Keith Cotterill who steered it passed the goalkeeper from 10 yards. Minutes later, another sharp Grampound move was met by Higgins who hit his second from close range. The second period was goal-less, with Grampound making most of the running and again missing a few chances. At a corner, Sims was adjudged to have pushed but the resulting penalty was hit wide and apart from that there were few alarms in the Grampound defence. |
