Saturday 25 September 2010 LC Phoenix 5-2 Grampound Res.(Duchy League Division 5) Grampound Reserves travelled to Launceston to play top of the table LC Phoenix. Grampound should have taken the lead in the first 5 minutes when Matt Skews got on the end of a Dan Smith cross but failed to get a good connection with his header. Phoenix opened the scoring after 20 mins when the ball was given away on the edge of Grampound 18 yard box. They then extended their lead 10 minutes later when Grampound were caught on the break following confusion over the home team's lineman not flagging when the ball was a good yard out of play. With virtually the last kick of the half Phoenix went 3 up from a cross that went straight in. On the hour Joe Dunn scored his first goal of the season, unfortunatly for Grampound it was in the form of an own goal when he mis-hit a clearance from the edge of the Grampound penalty area to beat Sweet. Simon Lucas pulled a goal back 15 mins later when he was left unmarked from a Matt Skews corner. Phoenix restored their 4 goal lead with 10 minutes to go with a header from a corner when the ref overlooked a foul on Woodman seconds earlier. Theo Mullan then reduced the deficit with his first goal in mens football from just outside the 18 yard box. |
