Sunday 11 April Grampound Vets 1-2 Newquay Vets(Cornwall Premier League Cup, Semi-Final) A good first 20 minutes from the home team should have seen them ahead. Opportunities were missed though and it was Newquay who took the lead and then scored again to put them well in command for the period before half-time. Grampound re-grouped after the break and took the game to the visitors, who still looked the more dangerous however. A goal to get them back in the game was needed but a good chance was missed and the referee missed a blatant push for what would have been a home penalty. With 20 minutes left, a good move saw Lee Allen break down the right and his low cross was met by Glyn Ford who hit it home from close range. The last period of the match was end to end but Newquay held on for the win and a place in the League Cup Final. |
