Saturday 17 October Tintagel 4-0 Grampound Res.(Duchy League Div 4) Grampound had several players missing for the trip to a Tintagel side that had some good results of late. The hosts took a lead after Tom Perry won a good header from a setpiece but the ball hit another Grampound player and fell kindly to a Tintagel player who lobbed the ball over stand in keeper Jules Woodman. Grampound had some chances of their own on the break with Ryan Orchard firing narrowly over. A brilliant header just before halftime made it 2-0, although player/manager Alastair Woodman was disappointed to get beaten to a ball he should have cleared. Grampound lost Ryan Orchard and Ben Gillard to injuries at the start of the second half, and it was all one way traffic, with only last ditch defending and good goalkeeping keeping the score down. Tintagel scored twice more to make it 4-0, although James Fryer had a good shot saved and a Henry Hughes header went just past the post from a superb cross by Al Berry. The hosts thoroughly deserved their victory although they were overly physical and a tougher referee would have punished a number of late tackles that could have resulted in serious injury for someone. |
