Grampound Res 3-4 Newquay Minor

(Duchy League Div 4)
Back to Fixtures

Grampound reserves were stunned at home by two Newquay Minor goals in the first five minutes. Phil Southern scored the first although his shot should have been saved by the Grampound keeper. The second came from Dom Roberts after the ball was given away. Minor thought the game was already won, which riled the home side who fought back. Jules Woodman hit a free kick that was flicked on by Lee Budge for Ryan Orchard to pull a goal back. Jason Retallick then hit the crossbar and Mike Berry missed a gilt-edged chance just before half time when namesake Tom Berry made a brilliant save. Minor scored their third five minutes into the second half when Marlon Taylor headed home from a corner, but Orchard quickly pulled this goal back from a defected free kick. Budge hit the inside of a post and saw the ball roll along the line before Kev Toms levelled the scores with a drive from the edge of the area. Budge hit the bar as Grampound went for the win and Berry pulled off another remarkable save before Roberts hit a 4-3 winner for Newquay Minor in the last five minutes, but still found time to get himself sent off later on.
