Saturday 31 October Mount Charles 3-0 Grampound(Cornwall Junior Cup, Round 2) Grampound looked comfortable but Mount Charles looked more up for the game in the opening exchanges. A couple of missed tackles down Grampound's right left Harris exposed and he was adjudged to have impeded a home forward. The resulting penalty was put away and Grampound fond themselves a goal down after 17 minutes. The rest of the first half saw Grampound mostly misfiring, with only brief interludes of good play. Rob Cannon was put clear on a couple of occasions and Shane Weeks was unlucky to have a crisp shot come back off the post and to put a volley wide while being held back by his marker. The referee did not see the offence and the home team escaped. The second half saw Grampound open well, with Weeks again going close with a volley. The improvement petered out and finally stopped when John Brooker wasthe victim of some inconsistent refereeing and was shown a red card for some innocuous comment to himself. As Grampound pushed on seeking the equaliser, two further mistakes late on gave the home team a flattering scoreline. |
