Work went on all morning to ensure the pitch was playable and referee Mark Ashley was happy to agree the game should go ahead after another wet week. Grampounde started in the worst possible way when a back passto Hicks was played directly to a Maker forward and the ball was passed into an unguarded net. Ten minutes later matters got worse when a Maker forward rose unchallenged and headed home a corner. Disaster struck for a third time when Maker scored their third after another defensive lapse on 25 minutes. Three goals down but looking the better side neverthe less, and with rain now coming down torrentially, Grampound finally made their mark when James Webb's cross was hit home from close range by John Brooker. Soon after, a fine cross by Steve Webb, playing his first game for the first team, was volleyed low into the corner of the net by Shane Weeks and Grampound were now well on top. At half-time, the referee abandoned the game with the pitch rapidly becoming a lake and being a danger to players.
