Grampound put in a splendid first half,running the game all over the field and looking more like the team pushing for promotion thanthe hosts. Unfortunately, a soft goal after 15 minutes saw them go behind, but they fought back and were rewarded when Shane Weeks converted a penalty for a blatant push on John Brooker at a corner. With Grampound controlling midfield, they were unlucky not to go into the lead and two or three very dubious offside flags helped keep the visitors' score down.

The second period started disastrously for Grampound when an elementary mistake by Moorcroft presented Tywardreath with an undeserved lead within seconds of the kickoff. Five minutes later another defensive error saw the lead extended and a fourth was added soon after. Five minutes from time a further goal was awarded when Hicks was adjudged to have carried the ball over his goal line and his protest earned him a red card. This was a very disappointing result in a match the team had dominated in the first half but it does give something to build upon for the forthcoming league fixtures.
