Grampound 1-0 Altarnun

This was a hard fought game in which Grampound always seemed to have the upper hand even though Altarnun sat top of the league. Grampound bossed the opening exchanges, giving the Altarnun defenders little time for breath and although chances seemed hard to come by Grampound always looked the more likely to score. On 35 minutes, the expected happened and a ball over the top of the visitng defence was not dealt with well. Ryan Orcahard controlled the ball on his chest and slotted past the Altarnun keeper to give Grampound a deserved lead. Minutes later, just before the break, Orchard worked his way to the goal-line and pulled the ball back for Steve Webb whose shot hit the post, with Shane Weeks unable to ram the rebound home.

The second half continued in similar vein, although Altarnun puhed on more to try and regain equality. Grampound were in no mood to let that happen and defended immaculately, giving the visitors little chance in the danger area. At the other end Steve Webb was a constant threat and three of his shots shaved the woodwork.

A single goal win did not do Grampound justice but three points was very welcome in the fight against relegation.
