Sunday 28 September Bodmin Town 1-2 Grampound(East Cornwall Youth League, Under-16s) The first league game of the season found Grampound away to a team that had thrashed them the last time they had played. But as we have said numerous times already this season, Grampound are a different team this year and so it proved in this match. The lads dominated in every phase of the game, and once again played football that was a joy to watch. We deservedly took the lead just before half time from a corner with Curtis Lobb rising above everyone else to head into an empty net. Incredibly the curse of the ‘Own Goal’ has struck already. This time it was Jake who chose to smash the ball into his own net to give Bodmin an unlikely equaliser. But just as Bodmin began to think they could snatch something, we stepped up the pace and grabbed the winner that we thoroughly deserved. Lewis finished a flowing move down the left with a clinical shot past the keeper. A cracking start to the season. Well done to all. |
