Tintagel 0-6 Grampound

(East Cornwall Youth League, Under-16s)
Back to Fixtures

Once again it is a sure sign of how we are progressing that we should so comprehensively beat a team that did the double over us last year.  And to be honest, I have seen us play a lot better but any criticism of the lads can wait for training!  Right now, they deserve nothing but praise for another cracking win.  Despite only taking a 1-0 lead into half time, we never once looked like we were going to do anything other than win this game.  That first goal was scored by Jonny Ridd after some great work down the left from Albert Savage and Luke Wallis.

The second half saw Lewis Waters cut their defence to shreds with a stunning hatrick inside 15 minutes.  Each goal was a virtual carbon copy, with him breaking clear of their defence and cleverly beating the keeper each time.  It rightfully earned him Man of the Match.  Theo Mullan also broke his league duck with two great finishes at the end to make it 6 -0.  Other notable performances were from Isaac Knight at right midfield, Tom Rhodes at right back, and Ben Keevil at centre-half.

There were two firsts for the team in this game:
It is the first time we have had back to back wins; and it is the first time we have kept a clean sheet in a game.
