Sunday 30 November Newquay 0-6 Grampound(East Cornwall Youth League, Under-16s) At last! We’re back to winning ways after a tough couple of cup matches and a poor display against St Stephen. We dominated this game from start to finish and to be honest could have scored another six if our finishing had been better. What was particularly pleasing was to see us play our passing game again, keeping the ball on the deck in windy conditions. Despite our dominance it was not until the 30th minute before we broke the deadlock. So bad was our finishing today that our first goal from Stu was a cracking lob into the top right corner which he had intended to put it in the bottom left!!! Once we had this goal the flood gates opened. 2 minutes later, Stu got his and our second, quickly followed by Lobby with a left foot ‘pile-driver’ from the edge of the box. The second-half continued much the same way with Lewis, Jonny, and Luke all adding goals regularly throughout the half. Although, we also continued with some outrageous misses particularly from Theo, Luke and Jonny. Goal of the game was Jonny’s. What I really liked was the speed and precision of the goal. A quick throw from Tom to Ben on our half-way line who then played an inch perfect pass over their back line for Jonny to run onto and lob the keeper. |
