Saturday 22 November North Hill 4-3 Grampound Res.(Duchy League Div. 4) Grampound Res. made the trip to North Hill for their 8th away game of the season. Manager Al Berry was able to name a simliar team to the one that had played the previous week at home to St Teath with just Kev Toms replacing Andy "Butter-fingers" James in goal and Tom Perry in for Jon Lannon who was suffering with contact lense problems. The game was holted within the first 5 mins when Ian Varnell took out the referee in an off the ball incident. The referee took a couple of minutes to sort himself out and get the mud out of his whistle before the play continued. After 15 minutes North Hill opened the scoring when the ball wasn't cleared despite opportunities to do so and the ball was slotted away past Toms. After just two minutes from the restart Grampound were back on level terms when Kieran Reilly gambled on a long ball over the top to lob the keeper and make the score 1-1. On the half hour Jules Woodman won possesion in the midfield and laid the ball back to Mike Berry who played a glorious 70 yard through ball to Reilly who went through on goal and made the scored 2-1. Grampound's lead was short lived as a nothing ball was not dealt with and North Hill levelled the game before half time. After the half time break Grampound started the brighter of the two teams with every player winning their personal battles. But it took Grampound a good 20 minutes before a goal finally came. Woodman headed down to debutant Lee Budge for him to smash the ball off the North Hill crossbar and in off the keeper to once again give Grampound the lead. With 15 minutes remaining North Hill threw a long throw into the Grampound penalty area and a North Hill striker beat Yeo in the air with a header that looped over Toms to make the score line 3-3. With 10 minutes remaining Ryan Orchard was put through on goal and he passed the ball past the North Hill goalkeeper only for it to bobble at the last moment and hit the inside of the post and back into the keeper's arms. Moments later a North Hill striker scored his team's 4th with a good strike that went in off the post from a wide angle. Grampound pressed hard for an equaliser in the remaining time but North Hill were able to hang on to take all 3 points. |
