Saturday 30 August Grampound 1-3 Probus(Duchy League Div 2) Grampound started solidly i n their first competitive match of the season but Probus were a good solid team and gave little room for Grampound to expres themselves, although Max Varnell could have done better with a fair chance in the opening exchange. Grampound missed the influence of Stuart Harris in defence when he came off injured and some reorganistaion was necessary. With Probus dominating midfield it was no surprise when they tookthe lead but Grampound were disappointed to leave Penhaligon with a free header at the far post from a free kick which gave Probus the lead. Grampound were on equal terms for much of the remainder of the half but Trebilcock extended the Probus lead when Cooke in the Grampound goal came out unadvisedly and was chipped to give Probus a 2 goal lead. The second half was mostly evenly contested but Probus went further ahead with the best move of the game after a series of swift passes. The game looked over at that stage but Grampound managed to stretch the Probus defence a few times although the Grampound goal came when the Probus keeper misjudged a long free kick from Greg Dunn and the ball went over him into the net.
