Sunday 2 March2008 Grampound 3-5 St Stephen(East Cornwall Youth League, Under 15s) This was always going to be a tough game against the reigning champions but Grampound certainly made them work for their win. In fact, for large parts of the game we were the better team, but once again lapses in concentration cost us silly goals. The only difference between us and a top two team is the fact that we gift teams goals. Take away 2 of their sloppiest goals and I think 3-3 would have been a fair result. A measure of how well we have come on as a team is the stat that we lost the first half 3-0 but won the second half 3-2, and I don’t think we played as well as we can do! We looked half asleep, and allowed them to be first to the ball most times. Imagine what would have happened if we had all played at our best. Lewis is certainly one who did turn up for the 80 minutes and gave an outstanding performance up front. He scored twice and was easily MoM. Stu grabbed the other goal. |
