Grampound 1-1 Lostwithiel

(East Cornwall Youth League, Under 15s)
Back to Fixtures

What a cracking match!  Good football played in the right spirit, and bags of excitement.  It’s a shame we can’t play Lostwithiel more often.  A draw was the fair result in the end although we did have the majority of the best chances.  But if you can’t put the ball in the back of the net, then you don’t deserve to win.  Mind you – when we did manage to score, it was worth waiting for.  It was an outstanding goal that would have graced Old Trafford.  Four passes strung together from defence through midfield via Albert, Luke, and Jonny finally found Ben in space in the midfield who unleashed a 25 yard missile right into the top right corner of the goal.  It somehow seemed inevitable that Lostwithiel would equalise in the second half – they seemed to want it more than us.  In fact they could have gone on and stolen the game.

Once again, the positive was the passing and movement, but the negative was our attitude.  We have too many players sulking, moaning, or worrying.  Relax, remember it is only a game, so start enjoying it and just give me 100% for 80 minutes.  Let me do the worrying!!
