Sunday 1 December 2007 Tintagel 7-0 Grampound(East Cornwall Youth League, Under 15s) A depleted 10 (not 11 after being let down without warning) made the long trip to Tintagel and battled from the first minute to the last. Stu Eames up front on his own caused lots of problems for the home defence, especially in the first half, and was denied by the linesman's flag in the first half and by an excellent save by the home keeper in the second. Tintagel looked dangerous with every attack and it needed Curtis Lobb to rise to the occasion and be a rock at the back to keep the score against respectable. Two very soft first half goals gave the hosts a 2-0 half time lead, but it could have been more although Grampound passed neatly at times to present their own threat. Grampound played against the wind in the first half and against it again in the second as it veered, and the home team took full advantage. Although Grampound worked heroically, almost all the second half goals came from a little naivety in defending, but no-one could be criticised in an excellent team effort. With a full complement the score, but perhaps not the result, would have been different. The Tintagel manager made a point of coming into the away changing room at the end of the game and congratulating the team on its spirit, effort, performance and sporting attitude. It was a well-deserved compliment.
