Roche 5-2 Grampound

A great performance from Grampound against the second placed team in the league.  For large periods of this game it was difficult to see who was at the top end of the table and who was at the bottom. Once again it was our inability to defend set pieces that really cost us, gifting them at least two of their goals.  If you took away our seven own goals and improved our marking at corners and free-kicks, we would have won many more points this season.

With a strong wind at their backs, Roche expected to score more than just two in the first half.  You could sense their frustration as we battled for every ball and restricted their play.   With such a strong breeze, the game was always going to be decided by the team who scored the third goal.  And against the run of play, Roche got it.  We did fight back with two great goals; a laser guided missile from Jonny, and a delightful finish from Lewis after a cracking interchange of passes between Toby, Isaac, and Jonny.  But the damage had been done and as we gambled going forward, Roche snatched two late further goals.
