Saturday 13 October Grampound Res. 1-4 St Austell(Duchy league Division 5) Division Five high flyers St.Austell maintained their 100 percent start with a 4-1 win at Grampound Reserves, but the result doesn’t tell the full story. Grampound played really well and took the lead on twenty-five minutes when Mike Berry was upended in the box and Tim Topham put away the penalty. Five minutes later Phil Hutchings equalised following a corner with the home team appealing for a foul on the keeper. Grampound continued to give as good as they got and went in level at the break. Right from the restart Richard James brought down a St.Austell player in the box and Hutchings took a penalty, which was well saved by Harry Cooke. The ball rebounded and in the scramble that ensued the ball struck Topham on the line and the referee awarded a second penalty and produced a red card. This time Hutchings made no mistake. Steve Kellow quickly added a third and Grampound with James now injured and all substitutions made were virtually down to nine men. They battled well, but Hutchings scored a fine individual goal to complete his hat trick and St.Austell had three hard earned points. |
