Saturday 1 March

St Teath Res. 1-0 Grampound Res.

(Duchy league Division 5)

Back to Fixtures 2007-8

With gale force winds against them in the first half, Grampound defended resolutely, with Topham and Woodman winning everything in the air and the welcome return of Joe Dunn adding pace at the back. Woodman came closest to scoring for Grampound in the 1st half when his half-volley from an Orchard corner hit the side netting. With 2 minutes to go until half-time, a hopeful ball forward from St Teath hit Richie James' shoulder and fell kindly to a St Teath striker who calmly dispatched the ball into the bottom left hand corner.
Although going in one down at half-time, Grampound were not discouraged having played some of there best football for several weeks. Grampound started the second half brightly and St Teath were finding it increasingly difficult to get out of their own half. Chances were spurned with Lannon just failing to meet a Berry cross 6 yards out and a Topham 30 yard effort dipping agonisingly over the bar.

This was the most one sided half of football seen for a long time, but Grampound's dominance could not be turned into a goal and St Teath bravely hung on to claim all 3 points.
