Saturday 10 May 2008 Grampound 3-1 Polperro(Duchy League Division 2) Grampound, with the pressure off, put in their best performance for months and never looked like achieving anything less than a win. The improved passing stemmed from Ryan Maker's ability to hold up the ball and bring in other players when playing up front, and Shane Weeks' free role allowed him to put in a much improved performance. Maker opened the scoring when his first time effort from the edge of the area found the bottom corner and Grampound were two up when Maker played in Ford who hit a firm low shot into the far corner of the net. Some of the football in the first half was very penetrating, giving the Polperro defenders a torrid time as they chased shadows. The second half was a little more relaxed but the third goal was another beauty as neat passing and a pinpoint cross gave Matt Clements the opportunity to head into the roof of the net. More goals should have been scored, but the team can be satisfied at the way it signed off for the season. |
