Saturday 5 April 2008 St Breward 6-0 Grampound(Duchy League Div 2) Grampound played some of their best football for months in the opening 20 minutes and should have been comfortably ahead (by 3 goals) but all were missed by Glyn Ford whose confidence seems totally shot and whose ability is not currently being exploited to the full. Rather than Grampound being ahead, two long shots saw the hosts two goals in front at the break. The second half was a bit of a horror show for Grampound. The most soft goals imaginable, together with mistakes from key defenders, allowed St Breward a comfortable ride and let them extend their lead to four soon into the second half, but the final two goals were beyond imagination. Firstly, an attacker was allowed to squeeze the ball across (and in) with nobody blocking the obvious inside ball , and then Andy James bizarrely headed the ball back into his own net rather than wide after Tony Ford had made the first save. Scott Rosevear might have done better with a couple of chances and Matt Clements had a shot cleaed off the line, but by then the game was lost and Grampound now seem to be relegation candidates, after being promotion candidates just a few months ago. It will be interesting to see how manager Glyn Leaney reacts to the difficult situation the team now finds itself in.
