Wednesday 16 May 2007 Grampound Res. 3-3 Gunnislake Res.(Duchy league Division 5)
The second half began in much the same way, with a succession of crosses being defended well, but Leaney was having to use all his experience to keep his back four in the game. Eventually, the equaliser came and soon after a second when visiting forwards were given too much time in the penalty area. It looked like the visitors would leave with all the points but with 20 minutes left Ryan Orchard found himself clear only six yards out and he made no mistake to bring Grampound back into the game. Minutes later Ryan Maker hit a thumping first time shot from the edge of the area low past the keeper's dive to his left to put Grampound in a position that stunned the visitors, who responded by throwing on even more premier division players. Grampound looked like surviving a terrific onslaught but in the last minute Gunnislake had a bit of good fortune to score a goal that their pressure had deserved. Grampound, though, were hugely satisfied with their point. |
