Grampound Res. 6-2 Stoke Climsland
(Duchy league Division 5)
Back to Fixtures
Grampound never looked like being second best in this game, and were dangerous in every attack, with the deadlock being broken after about quarter of an hour when Dai Moseley, selected to gain fitness after 3 games off, headed neatly past a static Stoke Climsland defence. With the home midfield showing huge dominance, it was only a matter of time before the lead was extended and Moseley was extremely unlucky to be penalised for a foul, seen by only the referee, as he arrived to power another header into the roof of the net from Webb's wide free-kick. Ryan Orchard did manage to score when his powerful run met little challenge and he was able to hit the ball into the top corner from 15 yards. Soon after, Tom Bartlett scored an excellent goal as he hit a low drive into the corner from Andy James' cross. A highlight of the half occurred when Alastair Woodman found himself in space six yards out and the ball arrived for him to emphatically blast the ball past the helpless keeper to give Grampound a comfortable 4-0 lead at the break.
Moseley soon scored another header from a corner, but the visitors squeezed in two goals from Grampound defensive lapses. As the game seemed to be petering out, Richie James ran on to a ball down the right and hit a low shot between the keeper and his near post to put the Grampound score at 6. Bartlett , once he moved back into midfield, showed that he is a player of real potential and one that Grampound's management will wish to fast-forward into first team action. |
