Delabole Utd Res. 5-1 Grampound Res.
(Duchy league Division 3)
Back to Fixtures
Grampound started well and took the lead inside 10 minutes when Ryan Orchard collected the ball neatly and turned inside two defenders before planting the ball firmly past the
home goalkeeper.
Within seconds, though, the hosts were level when poor concentration resulted in some slack marking and a simple header was placed past Cooke in the Grampound goal. Grampound responded well and, playing the more measured football, looked the most likely to score with Turton's runs proving to be difficult for Delabole to contain.
The second half started level, but a combination of poor defending and tackling and a couple og goalkeeping errors allowed the home side to move out of sight. In spite of this, a reorganised midfield in the final quarter of an hour reclaimed the initiative for Grampound and some good defending was needed to keep them out. Grampound will take heart from the lively finish to the match, but the opening of the second half was poor, allowing Delabole to dictate rather too easily and they will need to learn from this.
