The visitors could hardly believe their luck as a lack of conviction all over the pitch by the home team made them look even better than they were. Grampound were repeatedly guilty of giving the ball away cheaply and looked a shadow of the team playing just a month ago. Nobody could be accused of lacking effort, but confidence is low and at times the play looked very predictable. The Holywell Bay midfield found it easy to control the game and their simple passing enabled them to keep possession. After 25 minutes Romback scored with a crisp low shot to give the visitors the lead and a few minutes later scored again with a good-looking but probably fortuitous shot over Ford in the Grampound goal. The home team created one reasonable chance in the first half when the goalkeeper parried a difficult volley from Glyn Ford.
Some
firm words at half-time saw a changed Grampound performance and a stunned Holywell Bay were hanging on at times. A Harris header flashed just over and the keeper made excellent saves to deny a terrifc strike from Weeks and a good header from Bawden. The newly found momentum had the visitors rocking and if Grampound had managed to get their deserved goal this may well have lead to another. As it was, with a few minutes to go Currah broke down the right and shot across Ford into the far corner for another slightly soft goal to give them a flattering win. Grampound now need to start picking some points up urgently!
