Tuesday 9 May 2006 Godolphin 1-0 Grampound(Duchy League Divisional Cup, Semi-Final Second Leg) Grampound put the disappointing defeat of the previous Saturday behind them and took this game by the scruff of the neck from the first whistle. They poured forward, passing better than the home side who were under continual pressure in the opening exchanges. Weeks was unlucky when his shot came back off the bar and a couple of good chances were created but not converted. Grampound deserved to be ahead at the break, but were not and Godolphin looked livelier as the second half began. The introduction of Moseley reinvigorated Grampound and his presence down the right side gave Godolphin some additional problems. He might even have scored on two occasions, firstly when his shot from the edge of the area slid past the post and secondly when he fractionally failed to get on the end of a long cross from the left. The inevitable eventually happened when Godolphin broke away and managed to score a very scruffy goal but this did not really detract from a performance where Grampound regained a little pride in their last outing of the season, outplaying a team they had lost to by four goals only a few days before. |
