Saturday 14 January 2006 Lanivet 3-0 Grampound(Duchy League Div 3) Grampound opened brightly, passing well and putting the Lanivet defence under pressure, and it was against the run of play when after 20 minutes a cross from the right was mishandled by Tony Ford and a Lanivet forward was able to stroke the ball home for an easy goal. Lanivet now started to play with a little more confidence and extended their lead from a penalty when Stuart Harris was very harshly adjudged to have handled. Grampound spent much of the rest of the first half penned back in their half. Grampound reverted to their game plan after half time and gave Lanivet plenty to think about, with Glyn Ford at last managing to find some space. The Lanivet keeper made an excellent save from Ford when he turned smartly and shot from the edge of the area, and the parried ball just evaded other Grampound players. A long cross from Dunn on the left was volleyed sweetly by Weeks but the goalbound shot hit a defender to deny Grampound a deserved goal. Lanivet revitalised their team with substitutes and towards the end of the half began to tighten their grip on the game. A third goal came when a long shot went through a crowd of legs with Tony Ford unsighted. |
