Saturday 1 April 2006 Grampound 0-1 Calstock(Duchy League Div 3) Without 7 regular squad members through injury or unavailability, Grampound played the opening 15 minutes like strangers but gradually clawed their way back into the match and for much of the half looked the better side. Good attacking opportunities were created and spurned, but the first real strike came from Calstock when Grampound defenders were slow to push out from a cleared corner and the cross back in was headed goalwards from close range towards the top corner. Tony Ford, though, showed excellent reactions to get up and tip the ball over. Soon after, Grampound were sure they had scored. Good work from John Emery left two defenders in his wake on the left and his cross was volleyed in by Glyn Ford from 5 yards. Inexplicably, the linesman raised his flag for offside and the goal was ruled out despite vehement protests from several Grampound players. Grampound also had the edge in the second half with John Brooker, Glyn Ford, Mike Bawden and Shane Weeks all going close, the latter with a good run and explosive shot from 25 yards which whistled inches over without the keeper moving. It was, though, one of those days which have happened all too often this season when Grampound showed they lacked a true goalscorer and the opposition created one good chance in the second half and scored from it. A cross from the left was met with a crisp header and the well-worked move won Calstock all three points.
